Self doubt can hit anyone, but it is especially pervasive in creative careers where success can often come from subjective works. Has the impostor syndrome ever held you back? What challenges do you overcome to feel worthy of getting paid for creative work? We speak to filmmaker Kew and VFX artist José about what it like compete against the best in the world, as a creative couple living and working in London.

Kew Lin is a writer-director who is currently based in London. He has most recently co-written British feature film Love Possibly, which premiered at Raindance Film Festival and notably receiving the Best Screenplay award at the Sochi International Film Festival.

Fluent in Mandarin and the local culture, Kew often travels to China to make ethnographic documentaries. His credits as visual effects artist include Interstellar, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Bridge of Spies, Spectre and The Hunger Games series.

Kew’s fourth fictional short film just had its world premiere at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, Germany.

José Nieuwstad (pronounced Yo-seh) has freelanced for the past 5 years in various aspects of the film industry (vfx, editing, production assistant), She just landed a full-time job at motion capture studio The Imaginarium Studios in London (co-founded by Andy Serkis), where she is in charge of facial capture and body/props scanning.
